Mariet Hulsebos and Dan Plaistow journeyed all the way from the United Kingdom to Aruba to have a low-key destination wedding. “Mariet has Dutch nationality, so she already knew a lot about Aruba,” shared the groom, “and it just looked like an absolutely fantastic, sunny place.”

“It was the best day of our lives,” shared bride Christine Castiello. The Long Island resident and her groom, Raymond Sanicola, knew they wanted to get married on a beautiful beach at sunset. Ultimately, they chose Aruba as the locale for their destination wedding, “because the beaches are absolutely beautiful, the food is always amazing, and the people are just lovely,” Christine explained.

Couples who yearn for a bit of island authenticity weaved into their nuptial celebrations may want to consider the island’s “party bus” tradition. In Aruba, we often go on a “paranda”—our version of barhopping. We gather friends together and caravan around the Island, hitting up local bars that are a little off the beaten, touristy path. Chartering a party bus for one of your wedding events can be a joyful addition to your guests’ experiences here.
Staci Canterino and Amul Bhalodi, from New York City, wanted to combine both Catholic and Hindu aspects to their wedding. Staci, who vacations in Aruba every year, wanted her destination wedding here because of the “perfect weather.”

“I only saw Emmanuel in school…he was a very quiet young fella and I was the more talkative and outgoing person,” explained Djuna. The two didn't keep in touch after graduating high school in 2000, but through social media, reconnected in 2006. “It wasn't until the launch of Facebook several years later where we just made a simple friend connection, but we never established a consistent line of communication between one another,” informed Djuna. However, in 2013 they stumbled on each other’s profile on a dating website, exchanged numbers, and eventually went on a date.
