Aruba Weddings | Sand Ceremony
If you have been to Aruba, then you know that the breezy beaches of Aruba would present a challenge for anyone wanting to do a unity candle ritual during a wedding ceremony. The modern, beach version of the unity candle is the sand ceremony.
Like the unity candle, where two candles light a third to represent the uniting of a couple, two vials of sand, representing the individual lives of the couple, are poured simultaneously into a third vial that represents the blending of the lives of the couple into one. Some couples include family members in the sand ceremony to represent not just the blending of the couple’s lives, but also the blending of families.
Couples can arrange a sand ceremony with their officiate or wedding planner, or come with their own colored sand to harmonize with the wedding colors (most craft stores carry colored sand and vials in various shapes and sizes).
